Friday 30th May
-All members briefly introduced themselves. -Minutes from previous meeting approved.
-Andrew suggested to involve experts "Moving brands" (company in London) They create sound from brands. They can be invited to future meetings. It would also be interesting to invite people from film sound and from game sound. It is interesting to bring knowledge from film sound to sonic interaction design and viceversa.
-Ross Bencina (suggested in the previous meeting) can apply to participate to the meetings. using the Australian's connection.
-Possibility with companies: invite them to give a presentation.
-The meeting was followed by a presentation from Olga Timcenko - Sonic design for interactive toys - examples of LEGO Galidor and LEGO Mindstorms
The talk will be about an unsucessful example of action figure toy line Galidor, and about a world-hit Mindstorms NXT. In Galidor action figures sonification had a crucial part in playing - the figures were activated by specific signals from a TV-show, and performed different actions afterwards. Mindstorms NXT robots get sound input via a microphone, and could produce sound feedbeck using a modest speaker.
-Andrew Diey also presented his latest work on sound design for different companies, and described his use of mood boards and sound maps.
